32 week Bumpdate!

My big belly is actually making my boobs and eyes look smaller.
I never thought it would be possible to look like I have a small(er) chest.
I always feared that my already squinty eyes would start to get squished in my face.
Shoot!

This week: We had our baby shower on Sunday!! It was such a fun day and it was so amazing to be surrounded by so many people who love our girl already and who are so happy for us. I cannot wait to share pictures!

How far along? 32 weeks! Iyy yi yi!

Baby's size: Baby P is the size of a squash! Pretty sure I've seen squash on this list before AND I'm pretty sure a pineapple is bigger than this thing. I've also heard she's the size of a jicama, whatever that is. She's actually about 4 lbs, according to our last ultrasound.

Total weight gain: 14 lbs. woof!

Maternity clothes? Still in cotton dresses as often as possible, thankfully mostly regular dresses, too. I hate spending money on maternity clothes so I'm not doing it! Hubby's gym shorts are comfy, too!

Stretch marks: My thighs and hips :( It seems like the teeny tiny ones I had are just spreading out.

Sleep: It's okay. Getting up in the middle of the night is the worst but inevitable. I have been SO tired lately and I hope I can catch up on sleep next week when summer school is over and I don't need to get up so early.

Best moment this week: Our baby shower!! It was perfect!

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach and energy! I am SO tired lately!

Movement: Lots and lots. She is moving constantly and her movements are so big and sometimes painful. I can feel body parts jabbing out and my stomach jumps around all the time.

Food cravings: Pretty much just everything I see anyone else eating. And chocolate banana smoothies.

Food aversions: Nothing new.

Gender: Pink everything!!

Belly button - in or out? It's pretty much out at this point. I've actually seen it pop out like a turkey timer when the baby moves sometimes and it is usually sticking out through my shirt.

Wedding rings - on or off? On. I try to pull them off at random times to make sure I still can and so far, so good.

Symptoms: Pelvic pain is back. So, so tired. Pregnancy brain like whoa. - The other day I threw a load of Jeff's baseball uniforms in the dryer, threw a couple of dryer sheets on top and that was it. I never dried it. Jeff opened the dryer to find his clothes wet. Oops! (Um, and I actually couldn't remember what the other symptom was that I had and literally sat here for five minutes thinking, what the heck was I going to write?? Pregnancy brain is real.)

Mood: Happy and sleepy.

Looking forward to: 3 more days of summer school and then I'll really have the time to tackle the nursery. It looks like a bomb went off in there after the shower and I can't wait to finish organizing it!

Pregnant feet and baby shower sneak peek!

Happy Monday!! It's the final Monday of summer school and I am sippin' on a grande iced coffee from Starbucks, all caught up on my work before the kiddos show up. Not a bad way to start my week :)

Sami's Shenanigans

I had a fabulous weekend and hope y'all had the same. Saturday was a catch-up kind of day... taking care of the housework that I'm too tired for all week and working on my assignments for grad school that I'm too tired for all week. See a theme here? Jeff went up to the lake with his dad for the day so after my work was done, I treated myself to a mani/pedi and went shoe shopping. Even though I have been living in Old Navy flip flops all summer, I decided I wanted to wear heels or wedges to my baby shower. Shoe shopping while pregnant is um, let's just say, ridiculous. I have always loathed my feet. They're tiny and wide with a high arch, not exactly the most ideal for many popular styles right now. I love wearing a shoe with a high heel but now that I'm pregnant, my feet won't fit into them. As in, sausage toes everywhere. Shoe shopping at the very end of the day isn't the best idea for a preggo, either. My feet were definitely a bit swollen but I think they also grew. I can usually wear a 6.5/7 but I was pushing an 8. I must have tried on about 50 pairs of sandals and wedges before coming across a pair of dressed up flip flops. Praise the Lord, they were $10 on clearance at TJ's. I was really ready to start flinging shoes all over the place, Theresa Giudice style, if tables were shoes. Apparently the people that say they love shoe shopping because shoes always fit, have never been shoe shopping while pregnant. I'll definitely be flip-flopping until this child is born.

Sunday was my baby shower!!! It was such a beautiful shower, hosted my my mother, mother-in-law, sister, and sisters-in-law. Every little detail was perfect and baby girl was insanely spoiled. I feel so incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so many people who already love my little one so much already. The shower had a book theme and everyone brought a book with their gift or in lieu of a card. Love, love, love!! Baby girl's book shelves are officially full!! I can't tell you how happy this makes my teacher heart! My sister took lots of pictures and I will do a full recap once I have them all, but for now, here's a peek from my sister-in-laws Instagram pics.

Only 8 more weeks until we meet the star of the show!! :)

Five on Friday

Happy Friday!! This is my new favorite link-up because it's easy enough for my pregnant brain to handle.

Can we just take a look at last Thursday/Friday compared to this Thursday/Friday? Um. I'll take some more please! Last Friday the air conditioner broke at work and I was ready to go ape shit. I literally couldn't even see straight. I was so hot and SO mad that no one felt the need to correct the situation. I fixed it with a ginormous limeade from Sonic on the way home but nothing made me happier than the weather yesterday and today. Yesterday felt like Fall. Fall is my favorite. Cool, breezy, sweatshirt weather. Even Rocky didn't know what was going on. He must have sat at the window for an hour, just watching the rain and trees blow.

2. The highlight of my week was definitely seeing my chubby cheek baby girl at our ultrasound. 31 week bumpdate & pictures here. I cannot wait to kiss those cheeks!!

3. My summer officially starts in one week. ONE WEEK! True, it will include getting all the final baby prep done, packing a hospital bag {O.M.G}, childbirth class {OMG.OMG}, and hopefully a shit ton of nesting, but I am so looking forward to three weeks off. We are hoping to squeeze in a few lake days, a few days away AND we have lots of parties coming up. Let's just keep the temp in the low 80's perhaps?

4. Starbucks has been saving my life this week. I didn't realize they would still make the Chocolate Vivanno smoothie {chocolate & banana} but they do and they did and oh my oh my. It fills me enough to not have me thinking of a million other foods and the chocolate is perfection in the morning. I'm making an attempt to be healthier in the mornings and this helps me avoid a breakfast sandwich breakdown.

5. This is my most favorite way to spend my time. I am SO tired when I get home from work and this boy knows the way to my heart.

Happy weekend, friends!

TBT: Our Honeymoon!

This time last year, I was on the most amazing vacation. My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for ten glorious days. We were married in April but due to my schedule, as a teacher, we had to wait for the summer to take our honeymoon. I'm so glad that we did because it was really nice to have something to look forward to after the wedding. Of course, we were thrilled to be married but wedding planning is so time consuming and then it is over in one day. This way, we still had this trip to look forward to even as life began to settle all around us.

Jeff planned the entire honeymoon and told me on the day of our wedding, in the limo after we were married, where we were going. He could not have picked a more perfect place. It was the best mix of adventure and beach bummin'. People told us not to leave the resort but we did and every time we did, we had the best time. These pictures are just a teeny tiny fraction of the pictures that we took but looking at them brings me right back. Here are some highlights from our trip...

First day @ Macao Beach

We rented dune buggies and had to spend $10 on bandanas to keep the dirt off our face.

Bad.ass smoking a Dominican cigar

Swimming in a cave with the locals

Ziplining {and I forgot sneakers!}

31 week Bumpdate!

This week: I think the worst of the heat wave has passed so I'm hoping to feel a bit more motivated to get outside this week. I'm literally just counting down until summer school is over {9 days} and trying to fill up my afternoons with friends. Oh, and the Royal Baby was born! We were at the 99 when Jeff yelled out, "It's a boy!" from the breaking news on the TV. Will & Kate's anniversary is April 29 and ours is April 28, so it's been fun being pregnant at the same time, too. We had our 31 week doctors appt. and everything is on track! Baby looks good and has a heart rate of 140-142. She is head down, in position!

How far along? 31 weeks! The countdown is officially in the single digits!

Baby's size: Baby P is the size of a pineapple! At our ultrasound yesterday, she was weighing in at 3 lbs 13 oz, in the 56th percentile. The doctor estimated that she should weigh about 7-7.5 lbs at birth. I think I can handle that :)

Total weight gain: Womp, womp. I knew that the gain would finally catch up. Apparently I've gained 9lbs since my last appointment, bringing the total to 14 lbs. It's still lower than I ever thought I would gain by this point and my doctor said that I'm right on track but I almost fell over when I saw the number jump that much in one visit! I blame it on the heat and Sonic. I want to keep it under 25, so it looks like Rocky and I will be hitting the streets again!

Maternity clothes? Same. I bought a few more skirts and tanks at Old Navy and TJ Maxx, a mix of maternity and regular. I also ventured into Motherhood Maternity for the first time and was appalled at the prices and quality of some of the clothes. I'm definitely looking forward to wearing regular clothes again.

Stretch marks: Still just my thighs.

Sleep: It depends on the night. Most mornings I wake up feeling like I slept for an hour but I'm actually sleeping better once I can get settled. Getting settled is a project, though.

Best moment this week: We got to see our sweet little peanut! I was so excited to have an ultrasound and baby girl was cooperative and even smiled for us! :)

{front of face with mouth open}
chunka cheeks & smiles!

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach. Regular clothes shopping.

Movement: Lots of pitter patter right under my ribs and much bigger movements. Nothing painful but I can just feel the difference in her size now. She is now head down and I can usually tell what the movements are.

Food cravings: Same old. Cold drinks and fruit.

Food aversions: Nothing new.

Gender: 99.9% sure it's a girl!

Belly button - in or out? It's starting to pop out but stays kinda flat most of the time.

Wedding rings - on or off? Still on

Symptoms: Pelvis pain is mostly gone. Definitely there when I move a certain way but nothing like what it was. Other than that, no complaints!

Mood: Happy, happy! Loving my sweet family!

Looking forward to: 9 more days until my sanity is back. SO many good things coming up! Baby showers, bridal showers, parties! Also planning a weekend getaway with the hubs!
