Happy Friday!

Photobucket

Dear Good Friday, so sad that I'm missing the prayer walk at church this morning since I'm working on Good Friday for the first time ever. The bright side is that we only have a 3-hour school day. I'm okay with that!

Dear students, thanks for loading me up with Easter candy. The chocolate literally saved me yesterday and you can never go wrong with an over-sized Peep!

Dear professors, why do you give due dates for major assignments the Tuesday after Easter? It should be assumed that most of us procrastinate and many of us are working over 40 hours a week already. That combination means that we'll spend Easter weekend writing papers. Boo!

Dearest Mama, I hope you had the happiest of birthdays yesterday and that you didn't have to work too hard! Love you so much!

To my sweet Elizabeth, how will you be four tomorrow?!?! Time needs to SLOW down!

{Wasn't this just yesterday?!?}

Dear Rocky, thanks for "helping" to fold the blankets so that you could find a place to nap.

 {For the record: we usually don't have blankets and a mirror in the living room,
but we just had new carpet installed and things are all over the place. Rocky loves it!}

Dear hubby, love you! Always!

Wicked Single. WTF?!

Ok, so this is a totally random post, but I am just watching "Wicked Single" on VH1 for the first time and I. can't. believe. my. eyes. Or my ears. Apparently, according to VH1's website, it's a show about "six Boston locals attempting to navigate adulthood while managing a constant hangover". Is that how one navigates adulthood? I know I'm married now and live in the suburbs but this is not what people my age are doing every night around here. I feel like Phoebe from Friends in the episode where she sees Monica and Chandler getting busy and she screams, "My eyes! MY EYES!!!!!" My eyes hurt. So does my stomach.

In addition to the obnoxious, disgraceful to the city of Boston belligerence, I have a few serious problems with this show...

  • Most of these people do not appear to be from Boston, nor do they actually live in Boston.
  • I grew up 10 minutes from Boston, so I know exactly where they are in these episodes and they're not exactly hotspots for their age.
  • Some of their accents are TERRIBLE, which from a local, means they are FAKE. This one girl can't seem to decide if she's a valley girl or a Boston girl and it is bad.
  • This show is sloppier than the Jersey Shore cast on a Real World/Road Rules Challenge. Within the first half hour, one girl fell on to a cab, wiped out on the bar floor, and then broke her wrist. Meanwhile, one of the guys was licking girls' faces at the bar. What?!?
  • The girls claim they want to be married by 30, yet they're face planting on cabs at 29.
  • They party in Chelsea. Need I say more?

One of the girls loves Derek Jeter, and as a Boston girl, you would think that would be a problem, but I get it girl.
I get it.

I wanted to like this but I just can't. Wicked pathetic. Have you seen it? What do you think?

WILW!

I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving that WILW keeps me positive, mid-way through the week. :)

I'm loving the spring weather that we are having in Boston! Just kidding. It's 30 degrees and there are 10 inches of fresh snow in my backyard.

I'm loving what was hopefully the last snow day of the season, yesterday. I just LOVE snow days and really don't mind making the days up in June, but hopefully that was the last one! We start in August, so we are still getting out in mid-June, and teaching in June is easy. Plus, a four-day week is pretty sweet in March!

Looks like everyone was enjoying their snow day yesterday!

I'm loving that even though I was a lazy bones for most of the day yesterday, I still got all the laundry done and made a delicious dessert ~ Better than Anything Cake (adapted to be gluten-free) from Chef-in-Training.

{dark iPhone picture, but it was the only one I could get before we gobbled it up!}

I'm always loving my hard-working husband, who used his snow day yesterday to finish the hardwood floors in the hallway and install the doors on our two new bedrooms, before he was called into work for an emergency leak call.

What are you loving today? Please don't say spring weather, I'll be so jealous!

Snow day!

Here I am, on a Tuesday morning, sitting in my favorite spot with my favorite boy snuggled up next to me, while the snow just keeps on coming down.  This is our 6th snow day of the school year, which is a lot for this area. Luckily we start in August, so we're still getting out in mid June, which is earlier than most schools in the area. I love me a snow day, but enough is enough. At this point, we are averaging about a storm a week, with at least 6-12 inches each time. I am SO ready for this weather to be done with!

{Just a regular day in New England!}

Spring officially starts tomorrow and this is the view from my kitchen. I'm trying to bring Spring but it's just not ready, I guess.

We're all home today for a snow day (even Rocky's daycare closed!) and apparently Jeff & I have a much different idea of what a snow day consists of. He told me he had four things to do today... finish laying the hardwood floors in the hallway, paint the trim, clear out the bedrooms, and rip up the carpets in our bedroom. I also have four things to do today, they include the couch, the DVR, my Macbook, and snuggling with my pup. Hopefully his busy work doesn't make me feel like I need to get up and be productive.

I was really hoping our day would look something like this...

I won't get too wild and take a nap on the cable box, but you get the idea.

Happy Snow day to my New England friends & Happy Almost Spring to everyone else! :)

Friday's Letters!

I love linking up with Ashley of The Sweet Season for Friday's Letters!

Dear Friday, missed you!

Dear Friday commute, thanks for making me forget how awful the rest of the week's commute is.  :)

Dear Spring, what's up? Where'd you go? Two days ago I was strolling around with no jacket, enjoying the 50* weather, today I'm cranking up the heat. Not cool.

Dear Rocky, how do you keep getting cuter and cuter? I can't even stand the cuteness when you sleep, especially when you are sleeping in the craziest positions. Pretty sure most of my pics on my phone are of you sleeping!

{How is that comfy?}

Dear students, I don't know what the deal is with the seaweed snack obsession, but oh my word, it is not for me. Thanks for sharing a piece with me at recess and not making fun of me when I nearly vomited on my desk!

Dear hubs, thank you for everything, always. I am so grateful for how hard you have been working on our renovations while I have been sluggin' on the couch with Rocky after work.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday, a great way to break up the week!

Here's what I'm loving today...

I'm loving that it is one day closer to Friday and we get to see some BFF's on Friday night!

I'm loving that our renovations are moving along nicely! The two new bedrooms have been painted, new carpet has been ordered for all three bedrooms, Jeff ripped up the carpet on the stairs and hallway and started the process of putting in hardwood floors in the hallway & stairs. It's already looking AH-mazing!

Yes, that's my cat drinking from the sink. The usual.

I'm loving that when I get home from work it is still light out AND it's nice enough to start walking the dog without freezing our tushes off!

I'm loving that Princess snuck into our bed last night for a snuggle. Hubs is anti-cat in the bed because she jumps on his chest in the middle of the night. I can't blame him for being scared out of his mind but he's too light of a sleeper :)

I'm loving that it is Spring Break from grad school! I would be loving it even more if I were somewhere tropical with a fruity drink in my hand, but I'll take just a week of normal life. You know, go to work every day and come home to spend time with my family instead of writing papers and reading insane amounts of educational research :)

I'm loving my new blog design! I finally started playing around with it and came up with something I adore. It definitely needs some tweaking and I have a lot to learn but I love it! What do you think? Any tips for me?

I'm loving my sweet babies, always.

I'm always, always loving my self-less, hardworking hubby. He has done every part of our second floor remodel himself after working at least 10 hours a day. Somehow he is still finding time to make dinner, clean up, and take care of Princess & Rocky when I've had long days with work and grad school. Love that man!

What are you loving today?

Weekend at Auntie's!

I'm linking up with Kelly for Show us your Life ~ Nieces and Nephews! My absolute favorite thing in the world is that I get to be Auntie Sarah. My sweet niece Elizabeth stole my heart almost four years ago and I fall more in love with her all the time. I'm also really lucky that I have so many close friends that let me be Auntie to their sweet babies ~ I absolutely adore Devin, Gemma, Mason & Tessa.

Last weekend, we got to spend the whole weekend with my sweet Elizabeth since my sister is away for a new job training (SO excited for her!). Elizabeth is smart, funny, and just the sweetest thing. She loves her Uncle Jeff and cousins Rocky & Princess. In fact, every time my cat Princess came downstairs Elizabeth would stop what she was doing and say, "There's my favorite girl!" She's such a love and she had us laughing all weekend. I can't believe this little sweetie is going to be 4 this month!

She loved cheering on Uncle Jeff & Rocky while they were on their morning run.

Rocky loved staying close by to wait for a surprise treat.

Puppy kisses!

She's finally more comfortable with Rocky and clearly he's pretty comfortable, too.
Rocky enjoyed Elizabeth's stay because she always left snacks behind on her seat!

Peeking out from backstage!

Loving the big kid slide!

Performing a puppet show!

Loving the bounce house!

After a long day, winding down with Uncle Jeff. Too tired to take her heels off.

My loves.

We had so much fun and I wouldn't mind having her stay every weekend!

A fresh look

Spring break from grad school started this weekend, so I was able to find a bit of time to spend with my neglected blog. I spent some time playing around and changed the template to my liking. It is definitely a novice template but it is my first time designing my own blog, so I'm proud! I think that part of the reason I read blogs every night but don't update my own is because mine just felt so generic and it wasn't fun. Now that I have a layout I enjoy, I'm thinking of changing the name, too. Still trying to figure it out but as much as I love to cook, I have never posted any sort of dinner on the blog. Ha! In the meantime, there is so much going on that I want to share and I need to make it a point to come back a couple of times a week, for my own sake. Plus, my baby boy is getting so big and where else am I going to document it??
